Why Havana? So many reasons ...
- Romantic notions of sultry, humid nights in atmospheric bars ... smoking Cuban cigars and sipping Mohito's ... walking in the footsteps and sitting in the buttprints of 50's gangsters, celebrities, and mad genius suicidal writers ... tooling around town in a vintage American car ... all to a salsa soundtrack
- The chance to experience a communist country, forbidden to most Americans, especially while still (hopefully) under Castro's rule
- A departure from the all inclusive, family oriented, insulated vacations I've taken in the past ... the opportunity to hopefully spend some time with "real" Cubans and catch a small glimpse of the "real" Cuba
- Explore the history and architecture of a unique city that in many ways seems to have stood still in time
- Experience a way of life, and pace of life, that is so alien to my own
